RTMC : Care a fost ideea din spatele Nocturnal, la început ? Cum a început această trupa ? Poți să ne spui ceva despre istoria trupei si lucruri de genul acesta ?

Nocturnal : Avenger a infiintat Nocturnal după ce trupa lui anterioara Bestial Desecration s-a desfiintat și a vrut să continue să cante unholy thrash metal, dupa model teutonic. In urma unei serii de modificari de concerte și membri, am gasit cel mai puternic line-up de până acum cu Avenger – chitara, Skullsplitter – tobe, Tyrannizer – voce si Vomitor – Bass . In prezent, înregistram noul nostru album care va fi lansat în ianuarie prin High Roller Records, album ce va lovi ca un ciocan.

RTMC : Cum va sustin oamenii din orasul vostru? Crezi că vă vor permite să aveti un spectacol de zece minute în primăria orasului ?

Nocturnal : Ei bine, de fapt, scena metal din orasul nostru e de rahat și cred că cei din primărie ne-ar uri cel mai probabil, în cazul în care ar sti de existenta trupei noastre, dar asta e un lucru bun, pentru ca noi nu cantam pentru a fi iubiti de majoritatea oamenilor.
RTMC : Care este viitorul muzicii metal, în opinia voastra? Credeți că acest întreg gen va supraviețui în următorii 20-30 de ani? Sau va va deveni un dinozaur, cum este muzica clasica ?

Nocturnal : Sunt destul de sigur că va supravietui atata timp cat oamenii sunt mereu în căutare de ceva pur și cinstit. Și nu îmi pot imagina ce este mai curat și cinstit decât metalul si undegroundul acestuia.
RTMC : Dacă ar fi să alegi … ce ar iesi castigator : Venom – “Warhead”/Bathory – “You don’t move me, I dont give a fuck”?

Nocturnal: Ar fi “Manowar – Gloves of Metal ” .
RTMC : Care este parerea ta vizavi de reuniunile unor vechi trupe si faptul ca scot albume? Este cu adevarat o revenire la origini sau doar o amintire palidă a fostelor zile de glorie ?

NOCTURNAL : Nu-mi pasă dacă trupele vechi înregistreaza noi albume sau, mai rău, reînregistreaza albumele vechi . În cazul în care doresc să cante live piese vechi, clasice e ok. Dar, din păcate, există o mulțime de trupe care distrug tot atunci când acestea sunt înapoi pe scenă .
RTMC : Cum crezi ca ar fi fost perceputa muzica voastra daca era cantata in urma cu 80 de ani? Cum ar suna cantata pe chitare electrice primitive sau rahaturi de genul asta?

Nocturnal : Dacă oamenii ar fi cantat muzica noastra in urma cu 80 de ani, cred ca si-ar fi udat pantalonii și ar fi crezut că diavolul însuși umbla pe pământ.
RTMC : Ce definește sau care este definiția unui bun album metal?

Nocturnal : E greu de spus . Pentru mine are să-mi dea un vibe aparte, sa-mi dea sentimentul de „wow” pe care nu-l pot descrie.
RTMC : Care este cea mai mare realizare / dezamăgire?

Nocturnal : Viata mea este minunata. Am doar realizări.
RTMC : “swarm of …” – povesteste-ne putin despre rifful acela.

Nocturnal: Ei bine, e doar un riff .
RTMC : Care este conceptul liric, în cazul în care există, oricum?

Nocturnal : Nu avem cu adevărat un concept , dar piesele noastre sunt in general despre lucruri ca moarte, întuneric, agresivitate și ură, în general .
RTMC : Există planuri pentru un nou album . Cum vor suna suna noile piese?

Nocturnal : Înregistrările vor începe în acest weekend. Asteptati-va la 10 melodii tipice NOCTURNAL UNHOLY THRASH METAL.
RTMC : Credeți că aparitia logo-ului pe coperta unui album Darkthrone a deschis calea catre un public mai larg?

Nocturnal : Nu prea imi pasă. Noi nu am fost rugati să apară pe acea înregistrare. Am primit un e-mail care spunea “nu am auzit de voi până când nu am văzut logoul pe înregistrare”, dar nu avem nevoie de promovare de genul acesta. Lumea fie ne stie, fie nu.
RTMC : Ai practicat trocul de vinil/casete. Încă o mai faci?

Nocturnal : Nu am fost niciodată cu adevărat activ în schimburi. Eu sunt mai mult un vânător de metale grele si când primesc lucruri bune nu vreau să le mai dau din nou. In schimb ne puteți gasi in fiecare magazin de profil din zona noastră.
RTMC : Ce părere ai despre albumele lansate de Quorthon după Twilight Of The Gods, atunci când a decis să testeze care gen de sunet ar fi mai bine primit de catre fani (Requiem & Octogon și rahatul alternativ)?

Nocturnal : Mi-a placut trupa pana la TOTG și este, probabil, albumul meu preferat, dar de restul nu-mi pasa. Ei bine, Blood on Ice a fost, de asemenea, bun, dar eu nu-l ascult prea des.
RTMC : Care este principala diferență între modul în care a fost cantat thrash metal in anii 80 si in zilele noastre (trupe noi vs trupe vechi/albume noi vs albume vechi ale aceleasi trupe) in opinia voastra ?

Nocturnal : Ei bine, din păcate, o mulțime de trupe vechi au pierdut spiritul metal și produc albume cu un sunet foarte lustruit etc., au pierdut mult din agresivitatea ce o aveau cei mai multi dintre ei.

RTMC : Care este relația ta cu moartea ?

Nocturnal : Moartea este sigura … viata nu este .
RTMC : Sunteți mulțumit de sunetul de studio/mixaje de pana acum? Dacă nu, ce ati schimba? Și de ce?

Nocturnal : Nu, nu cred ca am schimba nimic.
RTMC : Care este relația voastra cu publicul la spectacole? Cum vă imaginați că ar trebui să fie?

Nocturnal : Preferam cluburile mici in locul festivalurilor. Vrem ca mulțimea să simtă puterea noastră lucru pe care speram sa il putem obține înapoi din public. Oamenii de la spectacole sunt foarte importanti pentru a obține un show de metal bun .
RTMC : La final, cine crezi ca va castiga? Insectele sau șobolanii? Care este viitorul omenirii?

Nocturnal . Sperăm că nimeni nu va supraviețui … total deaaaaaaaaaaaathhhhhhhhhhhhh!
RTMC : Trupe si albume preferate la acest moment?

Nocturnal : Processions – To Reap Heaven Apart si Beyond – Fatal Power of Death sunt pe repeat momentan.
RTMC : Ce știi despre România? În afară de tampenia cu Dracula .

Nocturnal : Ei bine, nu prea multe. Dar ar trebui să fiti mândri că aveți o istorie cu o poveste ca asta. Îmi pot imagina că e enervant pentru voi că toată lumea încearcă să facă bani din ea, dar este încă o poveste buna, cu o gramada de potențial .
RTMC : De ce trupe romanesti ati auzit? Daca ati auzit de vreuna ….

Nocturnal : Eu de fapt nu cunosc nicio trupa din România, să fiu sincer. Dar poti sa-mi dai niște nume.
RTMC : Credeți că plăcerile hedoniste sunt un teren bun de inspiratie sau doar un drum spre pierzanie, în termeni de creativitate?

Nocturnal : Ei bine, atunci când vine vorba de compozitie si procesul de înregistrare niciodată nu merge fara durere și punctul în care esti pur si simplu epuizat. Deci, în cazul nostru nu funcționează.

RTMC: Vă mulțumim pentru quiz și va așteptam cu nerăbdare in Bucuresti .

Nocturnal: Iar noi va multumim pentru sustinere si ne vedem pe 12 octombrie.

RTMC: What was the idea behind Nocturnal, in the beginning? How did this band start? Can you tell us some band history and things like that?
Nocturnal: Avenger started NOCTURNAL after his previous band „BESTIAL DESECRATION“ split up and he wanted to continue to play UNHOLY THRASH METAL the teutonic way. After a LOT of line up changes and playing gigs with session members we found our strongest line up so far with AVENGER – Guitar SKULLSPLITTER – Drums TYRANNIZER – Vocals VOMITOR – Bass. We’re recording our new album at the moment which is going to be released in January via HIGH ROLLER RECORDS and it will hit you like a hammerblow.

RTMC: How did the people from your hometown support you? Do you think they will allow you to play a 10 min show in the city hall?
Nocturnal: Well, actually the scene of our hometown sucks and I guess the guys who are responsible for he city hall would probably hate us if the would known of our existance but that’s a good point as we’re not playing our music to be loved by the majority.

RTMC: What’s the future of metal in your opinion? Do you think this entire genre will survive the next 20 – 30 years? Or will it will become a dinosaur boneyard, like classical music?
Nocturnal: I’m quite sure that it will surive as people are always looking for something pure and honest. And I can’t imagine what is more pure and honest than metal music and especially the underground.

RTMC: If you have to choose for the ultimate playlist, what it will be: Venom – ‘Warhead” / Bathory – “You don’t move me, I dont give a fuck”?
Nocturnal: It would be „ Manowar – Gloves of Metal “.

RTMC: What is your take on these old bands reforming and getting out new albums? Is it a true return back to the roots, or just a pale reminder of former days of glory?
Nocturnal: I don’t really care if old bands record new albums or which is even worse re-recording old albums. If they want to play the old classics live and they do it good thats fine. But unfortunately there are a lot of bands who destroy everything when they are getting back on stage.

RTMC: What do you think if music like yours, by some crazy course of events or time travel weirdness, had appeared 80 years ago? What would it have sounded like played on primitive electric guitars or shit like that?
Nocturnal: If the people would play our music 80 years in the past they would shit in their pants and think the devil himself walked on earth.

RTMC: What defines or what is the definition of a great metal album?
Nocturnal: It’s hard to say. For me it has to give me a special vibe. An album has to deliver the right feeling which I can’t describe .

RTMC: What is your greatest achievement / disappointment?
Nocturnal: My life is great. I just have achievements.

RTMC: ‘swarm of…’ – talk us through that riff?
Nocturnal: Well it’s just a riff.

RTMC: What’s your lyrical concept – if there’s one anyway – all about?
Nocturnal: We don’t really have a concept but our songs are about the stuff which drives us on, like death, darkness, aggression and hate in general.

RTMC: There are plans for a new album. How do the new songs sound like?
Nocturnal: The recordings will start this weekend, it will be great. Expect 10 songs of typical NOCTURNAL UNHOLY THRASH METAL.

RTMC: Do you think getting your logo on a darkthrone album art opened your band to a wider audience?
Nocturnal: I don’t care. We’ve never been asked to appear on that record etc. We got one e-mail that said “ I never heard about you till I saw your logo on the record “ but we don’t need promotion like that. Either way you know us or you don’t.

RTMC: Did you practice tape/vinyl trading? You still do?
Nocturnal: I was never really active in trading. I’m more a Heavy metal hunter, when I’m getting good stuff I don’t want to give it away again. You can meet us for sure at every record store in our area.

RTMC: What do you think about the albums Quorthon released after TOTG, when he decided to test which sound the fans may like better ( requiem & octagon and the alternative shit )?
Nocturnal: I really liked the band till TOTG and it’s probably my fave record but I don’t care about the rest. Well Blood on ice was also good but I don’t listen that often to it.

RTMC: What is the main difference between how thrash metal was played in the 80’s and nowdays ( new band vs old bands / new material vs old material of the same band ) in your opinion?
Nocturnal: Well unfortunately a lot of the old bands lost the spirit and produce records nowadays with a total polished sound etc. I think they where full of aggression and power back in the days but lost it.

RTMC : What’s your relation to death?
Nocturnal: Death is certain … life is not.

RTMC : Were you satisfied with the studio sound/mix of your releases up to now? If not, what is it you would change? And why?
Nocturnal: No, we wouldn’t change a thing.

RTMC: What is your relation with the crowd at shows? How do you imagine they should be like?
Nocturnal: We prefer small clubs with stages which are more in the crowd than these fucking pits you have at big festivals. We want the crowd to feel our power and that we can get it back from the crowd. The people at shows are really important to get a good metal show.

RTMC: In the aftermath, who do you think will prevail? Insects or rats? What’s the future for mankind?
Nocturnal. Hopefully no one will survive … total deaaaaaaaaaaaathhhhhhhhhhhhh

RTMC: Fave records and bands right now?
Nocturnal: Processions – to reap heaven apart is spinning constantly on my turntable at the moment as well as Beyond – Fatal power of death.

RTMC: What do you know about Romania? Besides the Dracula shit.
Nocturnal: Well do be honest not that much. But you should be proud that you have such a great history with a story like that. I can imagine that it’s annoying for you that everyone tries to make money out of it etc. But it’s still a good history with a lot of potential.

RTMC: What Romanian bands have you heard of? If you heard of any at all …
Nocturnal: I actually don’t know any bands from Romania to be honest. But fell free to give me some names.

RTMC: Do you think hedonistic pleasures are a good inspirational field or just a road to perdition, in terms of creativity?
Nocturnal: Well when it comes to the songwriting and recording process it never goes without pain and the point where you are just fucked up. So in our case hedonistic doesn’t work.
